Preliminary Allocations for Title III, Part A
( 6/12/2026)
Under Title III, the Maine Department of Education may not award a subgrant if a school administrative unit's (SAU) total allocation is less than $10,000 dollars. Please note that theFY27 Title III, Part A preliminary allocations posted and are calculated using a per-pupil formula based on the statewide population of Multilingual Learners and the amount of available funding. If an SAU does not meet the minimum funding threshold independently, it may still qualify for Title III funding by forming a consortium with one or more other SAUs and submitting a joint application. A consortium is a collaborative group of eligible SAUs whose individual allocations fall below the required threshold. Within the consortium, one SAU must agree to serve as the Lead SAU. The Lead SAU acts as the fiscal agent and is responsible for managing the grant and coordinating consortium activities. More information is available in the Title III Consortium Guide and Application.
